— Three Arkansas players were named to preseason college football awards watch lists Monday.

Running backs Alex Collins and Jonathan Williams were named to the Maxwell Award watch list, while defensive end Trey Flowers was named to the Bednarik Award watch list.

Last season, Collins rushed for 1,026 yards and Williams gained 900 yards on the ground. Each also had four rushing touchdowns. Flowers made 44 tackles last season, including a team-high 13.5 tackles for a loss.

The Maxwell Award is given to the college football player of the year and the Bednarik Award is given to the defensive college football player of the year.

Collins and Williams make Arkansas one of 19 schools with multiple players on the Maxwell Award watch list and one of only four with a pair of running backs on the list. Alabama, Oregon and Texas also have a running back tandem on the list.

Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn are the only SEC schools with multiple players on the Maxwell Award watch list, with Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and South Carolina each having one.

Collins is also one of only 16 sophomores named to the list, while there were 30 juniors and 30 seniors named.

There are 15 SEC players on the Bednarik Award watch list, including three from Alabama and Georgia, two from Florida and one from Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
