Memphis DL hoping to visit Hogs soon

Junior defensive lineman Michael Perry III is planning to visit Arkansas soon.

Memphis junior defensive lineman Michael Perry III has a good relationship with a former Arkansas basketball great and is looking to visit Fayetteville.

“I have to go to Fayetteville to see Arkansas and I have to go to Columbia, Missouri to visit Missouri,” said Perry, who hopes to visit the Hogs Saturday or next week.

Perry attends Memphis Academy where former Hog Todd Day coaches the boys basketball team and has spoken well of the Razorbacks.

“He said it’s school I should take into consideration,” Perry said.

Perry, 6-1 1/2, 328, 5.32 has scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi. State, Tennessee and Tennessee State. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He recorded about 75 tackles along with 8 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 recovered fumbles as a sophomore. His mother lives in Jonesboro.

“I do have a high level of interest in Arkansas,” Perry said. “My mom lives in Arkansas, so they’ll definitely be a place I take into consideration.”

All the schools are the same with Perry.

“I’m on the level of eight out of ten with everyone right now,” he said.

Perry, who reports bench pressing 185 pounds 23 times, has visited Alabama, UAB, Auburn and Ole Miss.

“I’m looking at the football standpoint and looking where I can fit in as a defensive tackle,” Perry said. “I think by coming to Arkansas as a defensive tackle, I can great early playing time and I could be a factor early in my college career.”
