BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Two LSU freshmen football players face charges, one for allegedly stealing a bicycle outside Middleton Library and the other for allegedly tossing firecrackers into a campus apartment.

Capt. Cory Lalonde told The Advocate on Monday that Trey Lealaimatafao, 17, of San Antonio, Texas, and Davon Godchaux, 19, of Plaquemine, were issued misdemeanor citations in lieu of being booked Thursday into the parish jail.

Their cases will be referred to the East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney's Office, Lalonde said.

LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette said coach Les Miles has met with both players and each will be disciplined internally.

Lalonde said surveillance video July 1 captured Lealaimatafao allegedly taking a bike from the library's loading dock. "He did admit to investigators that he did take the bike," Lalonde said, adding that Lealaimatafao indicated he borrowed the bike and thought it was permissible to do so if the bike wasn't secured.

Lalonde said the player returned the bike to investigators, who returned it to the victim.

He was arrested on a misdemeanor theft charge.

Meanwhile, Godchaux's arrest on a criminal mischief charge stemmed from an early-morning July 21 incident in which firecrackers were thrown into a unit at LSU's West Campus Apartments, causing a small fire that damaged a sofa, Lalonde said.

"He admitted to throwing the firecrackers into the apartment, but said it was intended as a prank," Lalonde said.

Lealaimatafao also made news headlines last week when he punched through a window July 21 in the team's weight room, seriously injuring his arm. He was released from the hospital Wednesday.
