Jefferson, Tretola to arrive Saturday

Cameron Jefferson was a three-year starter at UNLV before transferring to Arkansas.

— Arkansas will welcome a pair of offensive linemen to campus this weekend.

Sebastian Tretola and Cameron Jefferson are scheduled to arrive in Fayetteville on Saturday, Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema said Tuesday during an interview on Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly. Both players have been awaiting clearance to complete transfers and will be eligible this season.

"They've both finished up their paperwork and all their academic requirements," Bielema said. "That's all been verified. We're just waiting on, really, a few emails to check off and they'll be ready for full-go Sunday. We're excited to add those last two guys."

Jefferson is expected to compete for Arkansas' starting left guard spot this preseason. The fifth-year senior is transferring to Arkansas for graduate school after spending four seasons at UNLV.

Tretola has spent the last two seasons playing tackle for Iowa Western Community College. Tretola began his career as a redshirt at Nevada in 2011 and will have two years of eligibility for the Razorbacks.

Bielema said last Friday that both players will have to play catch-up once Arkansas' preseason practices begin next week.

"Cameron is a fifth-year player and I think his adaptation, other than terminology, will be pretty quick," Bielema said. "Tretola is a little different. He's a junior college player who has been in a couple of different systems, and he'll need to adjust to learn how we do things and how we expect certain things to be done. His curve might be a little bigger, but each of them has a great offensive line coach (Sam Pittman) who will be able to accelerate them pretty quick."
