Cook set to visit Hogs
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema works with his team before the start of a football scrimmage Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.
Junior college linebacker and running back Tim Cook will visit Arkansas today and hopes to realize a lifelong dream by receiving an offer from the Hogs.
“I’m going up there to see which position they prefer for me, if they’ll offer me a scholarship” Cook said.
Cook, 6-1, 234, 4.44 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Arizona Eastern College has scholarship offers from Louisville, Wisconsin, California, Arizona and others. Video highlights CLICK HERE
He had some offers coming out of White Hall in 2012, but failed to qualified and ended up at Butler Community College in Kansas where he redshirted before transferring to Arizona. Cook and Hog tight end Jeremy Sprinkle were teammates in high school.
“I want to meet the coaching staff,” Cook said. “Sprinkle is probably going to show me around while I’m up there. I hope they offer me. I hope I pass the eye test for them. I would be very ecstatic about the offer.”
As a senior at White Hall, he had school record 174 tackles, including 11 sacks while leading the Bulldogs to the first 5A-Southeast Conference championship since 2006. He also set a career school in tackles with 367.
Should the Razorbacks extend an offer, Cook will likely head back home to talk things over.
“I would have to go home and think it over with my parents,” said Cook, who plans to be a December graduate. “Like I said it’s not even on the table yet. I don’t want to count my chickens before they hatch.”
He plans to visit Louisville on June 21 and then Cincinnati along with California. He ran his 40 yard dash time during the spring evaluation period.
“During spring ball, I ran it in front of the scouts,” said Cook, who had 223 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns last year. “The day they came through we were running 40’s. I clocked a 4.44 and a 4.45.”
