Beeks introduced for Red Sox affiliate

— Former Arkansas pitcher Jalen Beeks was introduced at the media day for the short-season Boston Red Sox affiliate in Lowell, Mass., on Wednesday.

Beeks, who was drafted by the Red Sox in the 12th round of last week's MLB Draft, will begin his professional career playing for the Lowell Spinners. His contract terms aren't yet known.

The left-hander went 6-4 in 13 starts for the Razorbacks as a junior, finishing with a 1.98 earned run average. The Prairie Grove native is one of two weekend starters Arkansas will have to replace next season. Chris Oliver signed his professional contract with the Phillies on Tuesday.
