Nice camp has Singleton hopeful for Hog offer
After a good showing at Arkansas' Elite Camp, receiver Brandon Singleton is hoping the Hogs extend an offer.
FAYETTEVILLE Receiver Brandon Singleton has five scholarship offers, but after taking part in Arkansas’ Elte Camp on Thursday he hopes to add one from the Hogs.
“I thought I had a pretty good performance today,” Singleton said. “There were somethings I could’ve done better, but overall I thought it was a pretty good performance.”
Singleton, 6-0, 170, 4.46 seconds in the 40 yard, of Boutte, (La.) Hahnville had several nice receptions, including a deep corner route for a touchdown thrown by Arkansas quarterback commitment Ty Storey. Video highlights CLICK HERE
“I like it up here,” he said. “I like all of the coaches and the program and the atmosphere.”
Hahnville’s offense is a run oriented and that limited Singleton’s opportunities to show his ability as a receiver. He has added offers from Louisiana- Monroe, Northwestern State, Western Kentucky and Gambling, but is looking to earn some from bigger schools like Arkansas.
Singleton attended the Missouri camp on Tuesday and has plans to go to Stanford for a camp on June 17th. He said receivers coach Michael Smith was happy with his showing.
“He said I did really good and just looking forward to the future with Arkansas,” he said.
Arkansas’ facilities were impressive.
“It’s really nice, all of it,” Singleton said. “It’s really nice.”
His father, Nate was a member of the 1995 San Francisco Super Bowl winning team as a receiver.
“He definitely is kind of tough on me, but I know he has my best interests and all he is trying to do is just make me better,” said Singleton, who ran a time of 4.46 seconds in the 40 yard dash at the camp. “Even if I wanted to be hardheaded and stuff, I know that I have to listen to him either way because I am here and he has already been to the highest level. I just need to buckle down and listen to him because I know he wouldn't lead me in the wrong direction.”
Should the Hogs extend an offer, Singleton said they would be high on his board.
“I have five offers and in the future and I think especially based on my performance today that Arkansas will offer and that will really crank up my recruiting,” Singleton said. “I am really looking forward to that.”
