Arkansas Camp Day Two updates
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema, back, watches on as Jared Cornelius catches a pass during spring football practice Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
FAYETTEVILLE The second day of Arkansas' three day camp will start around 9 am. Several prospects hoping to earn offers are expected today. Updates will be posted throughout the day.
A few more guys are arriving for today's camp.
LB Fermin Silva of Miami Central- has 7 offers. Passes the eye test. Arrived in Fayetteville at 3am.
LR Catholic OL-DL Luc Bequette
TE-OL Dylan Soehner - Prairie Grove.
S Marcus Walker of Lake Wales, Fla. had an exceptional morning session with three interceptions. He plays very well. He and Arkansas WR commit Deon Stewart had some good battles. Walker had one of his interceptions on a deep ball in the end zone against Stewart.
Walker has 28 offers and has Arkansas in his top three.
Fayetteville sophomore Taylor Powell, Hog commit Ty Storey of Charleston and junior Andre Sale of LR Catholic continue to play well at quarterback.
CB William Lockett of Manvel, Texas had the second best performance of all of the DBs. Sticks well with the recievers.
Arkansas State DL commit Javier Carbonell, 6-21/2, 280 of Bentonville and Rickey Dobbins, 6-2, 320 of Springdale Har-Ber are looking good. Carbonell has excellent quickness off the ball and has a very good motor.
Dobbins will be a very good college lineman. Above average quickness for a guy his size.
Coach Bret Bielema watched Dardnelle LB Parker Witt for a good amount of time. He and Miami Central LB Fermin Silva were running reps together along with another LB.
Witt recorded 11.1 seconds in the 100 meters during the spring.
TE-DE Daniel Sprinkle of White Hall ran a 4.23 shuttle time and ran 4.6 time in the 40. He worked with offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and tight ends coach Barry Lunney and then worked with defensive coordinator Robb Smith and defensive line coach Rory Segrest. As was mentioned last night, an offer might happen for Sprinkle who stand 6-4 and weighs in the 220-230 range.
DB Justin Bailey of Mayflower ran 4.41 in the 40 at 5-11, 197. He ran a 4.35 at the Arkansas State camp.
2016 DL Marcel Minniefield of Lee's Summit West High School in Missouri is a nice looking kid in the 6-1, 260 range. Former Hog OL Limbo Parks, who's working the camp, is his coach.
RB Charles West of Coppell, Texas has looked good. This afternoon session will be important on whether he earns an offer or not. He has more than 10 offers.
Junior RB Brandon Rice of Coppell, Texas is a very good looking prospect. He's in the 6-0 and 210 range and is impressing the coaches.
DE Samy Jeanclaude of Hallandale Beach High School in Florida looks to be in the 6-4, 240 range. This coming season will be his first to play football.
DE Andy Jean Baptiste of Miami Edison is also here and working with defensive line coach Rory Segrest. He looks to be in the 6-3, 240 range. One of the assistant coaches at Edison brought both of them up.
Hog TE commit Austin Cantrell is working out. He has some serious athleticism. His 11.3 speed in the 100 meters is showing.
As noted earlier in the day, S Marcus Walker of Lake Wales, Fla. had an outstanding day. He might have had the best performance of any DB at an Arkansas camp in the last seven years. His ability to play the ball in the air is exceptional.
TE-DE Daniel Sprinkle of White Hall definitely helped his chances at an offer. Might not happen, but he's on the radar more so now than he was before he attended the camp.
FB Trey Horne, 5-11, 225, 4.6 of Houston Episcopal is one young man that looks like a college blocking back. He's a very impressive physical specimen. One to keep an eye on for the future. Video highlights CLICK HERE
