Hogs in good shape for Walker

Safety Marcus Walker had an outstanding performance at Arkansas' camp on Monday.

— Highly regarded safety Marcus Walker has Arkansas as one of his top three schools after seeing what the Hogs have to offer the last three days.

Walker, 6-2, 180, 4.5, of Lake Wales, Fla., has 28 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Michigan State, Kentucky, Duke, Tennessee, Florida and Vanderbilt. ESPN rates him the No. 15 safety and No. 193 overall prospect in the nation. Video highlights CLICK HERE

His performance at Arkansas’ three-day camp on Monday is probably the best of any defensive back in the last seven years. He’s open to attending college outside of Florida.

“I don't mind leaving the state,” Walker said. “I think out of state is probably a better option for me to get to where I want to go to the next level. I think going out of state will be better for me.”

Walker, who had three interceptions during Monday’s action, was accompanied by Lake Wales head coach TaVaris Johnson. He recorded 30 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 5 interceptions, 3 pass breakups, 2 recovered fumbles and a forced fumble last year.

“I am physical, I am rangy, I get interceptions, I'm fast and I read the quarterback,” Walker said. “One thing I should get better on is my feet – just working my feet a little bit.”

Arkansas is in good shape for one of Walker’s official visits.

“I am going to make, probably, two or three officials,” Walker said. “In the next couple of weeks, I am going to narrow it down to my top three schools, take those three officials and then after I take those visits I will make my decision.”
