FAYETTEVILLE — Dardanelle athlete Parker Witt attended Arkansas’ three-day camp and earned praise for his play as he pursued his goal to be a Razorback.
"That would be a dream come true," Witt said. “This is the team I've wanted to play for since I was a little kid running around in my little plastic Arkansas Razorback helmet. It was way too big for me, didn't fit at all. But it's just always what I wanted to do.”
Witt, 6-2, 228, 4.55 seconds in the 40 yard dash, recorded 97 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 8 pass breakups, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble while playing defensive end for the Class 4A Sand Lizards last year. Video highlights CLICK HERE
He worked at defensive end, linebacker and fullback at Arkansas’ camp and was noticed by Coach Bret Bielema.
"He just told me that I'm invited to any game this year and that I looked pretty good," said Witt, who had 7 receptions for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns at receiver. "He asked me where I thought I fit in the best and which position I like. I told him I like fullback a lot because I like hitting people. I mean, I can go wherever he wants me really.”
His grandfather, James Witt worked as the FEMA director under President Bill Clinton and is currently running for Congress.
Witt, who recorded a 4.65 seconds in the 40 yard dash at the camp, has a few more school camps on his schedule.
"This month I've got a few more camps, and then in July it'll start slowing down," said Witt, who has an offer from Arkansas Tech. "I'm going to Auburn, I'll be at Arkansas State's camp, and maybe UCA in July."
