Haughton visit update

Arkansas defensive backs coach Clay Jennings walks past his players during practice Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the UA practice field in Fayetteville.

Safety Kahlil Haughton, 6-2, 180, 4.44, of Waco (Texas) Midway said the highlights of the visit to Arkansas were meeting the coaches and seeing the facilities, as well as the environment in Fayetteville. After meeting defensive coordinator Robb Smith and defensive backs coach Clay Jennings, he believes the Hogs are about to do big things.

Haughton liked how he would be used in the Hogs' defense. He said the safety is used differently from other systems and prepares you for the league. The visit made a great impression on him. He likes how everyone in Arkansas loves Razorback football.

He was very impressed with Coach Bret Bielema and how he plans to win the SEC while also making a positive impact on the player's lives.

His mother made the trip and was impressed with the academic support and liked how well the players are taken care of. He'll probably make his decision sometime in July.

He has 23 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Oklahoma,TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Duke. Defensive backs coach Clay Jennings is his lead recruiter.
