Dominic Ficociello went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the West Michigan Whitecaps' 5-4 loss to the Lansing Lugnuts Tuesday night.

The performance snapped his 17-game hit streak for the Whitecaps, the Class A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

During the streak, Ficociello went 25-for-62 (.403) with one double, three home runs and 10 RBI. He also scored 15 runs and drew nine walks.

Ficociello's batting average rose 30 points during the streak, going from .265 to .295, before his 0-for-4 game brought it back down to .291. His three home runs also doubled his season total, as he hit only three in his previous 56 games.

This season, Ficociello leads West Michigan in home runs, with six, and his 34 RBI are second only to former LSU standout Raph Rhymes, who has 37.

The streak is by far the longest of his short minor league career. His previous high was seven games, which he has achieved twice - last season for Class A short season Connecticut and earlier this year for West Michigan.
