Texas RB fond of Hogs' track program, planning visit
Arkansas' tradition rich track and field program could help the football Hogs with running back Patrick Carr, who recently received an offer from the Razorbacks.
Carr, 5-9, 190, 4.4 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Spring, (Texas) The Woodlands, Texas has 14 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Arizona State, Illinois, Iowa State Colorado, California, TCU, Texas Tech and Oregon State.
He placed fifth in the 100 meters at the state meet with a time of 10.57 seconds and is looking to run track in college. Arkansas’ 40 plus track and field national championships is attractive to Carr.
“That’s amazing because you rarely find schools like that,” Carr said. “It’s usually one sport. ’Oh, football is big here’. Ok say like Alabama, they’re known for football, but they’re really not known for track. So at Arkansas you have track and football.”
Carr rushed rushed 230 times for 1,635 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. He's being recruited by running backs coach Joel Thomas.
"I hear the fans are behind them all the time because the Razorbacks are really the only big thing there," Carr said in the June 24th edition of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. "It's amazing they get behind them and cheer them on. I like that about their spirit. I know academically it's a good school too.”
He plans to make an official visit to Arkansas during the season. He also plans to officially visit Arizona State and Duke.
He’s looking for a school that can help him with the transition from high school to college.
“Can I benefit from like academic and sports?” Carr said. “Most importantly, just taking care of me with me being away from home.”
