UA freshman Jackson earns conference honor

Arkansas forward Jessica Jackson gets ready to shoot a free throw during the first half of a Feb. 6, 2014 game against Florida at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE - Arkansas forward Jessica Jackson was named to the All-SEC second team and to the All-SEC freshman team, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Jackson, from Jacksonville, is averaging 16.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in 28 games, and in 16 SEC games averaged 16.9 points and 6.2 rebounds.

“We are very proud of Jess and her accomplishments this season,” Arkansas Coach Tom Collen said. “She is a special young lady and very deserving. She chose her home state school over a lot of top-10 programs and all Arkansans should be proud that she has chosen to lead us forward both this season and in the future.”

Jackson is shooting 41.9 percent from the field (153 of 365), 39.5 percent on three-pointers (47 of 119) and 80.4 percent on free throws (111 of 138). She has 43 blocked shots, 37 assists and 24 steals.
