Thursday recruiting tidbits

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema speaks during a National Signing Day ceremony Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at the university's football complex.

Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema addressed the media before the start of the Saline County Razorback Club .

Early signing period- Bielema believes if there's an early signing period the NCAA will have to adjust the time frame for official visits for prospects, who can't take official visits until Sept. 1 of their senior year. He sees the NCAA allowing recruits to make visits during the summer prior to their senior year.

August and November have been discussed as possible months for the early signing period. Bielema said there is talk of letting all prospects sign in the Dec. period that's now set aside for junior college prospects.

Offseason- He said tight end Jeremy Sprinkle is having one of the more productive offseason of all the players. He believes Cody Hollister and Jared Cornelius will have an immediate impact at receiver.

Bielema said Brandon Allen looks completely different from a year ago as a SEC quarterback. Running back Jonathan Williams has changed his body during the offseason.

Team bonding- Bielema said they have team bonding event about three to four times a year. Last night the team went bowling. Each team consisted of four players who don't know one another (different positions, older vs. younger). They also rode go-carts along with playing video games and playing laser tag.

Recruiting coordinator- He's interviewed two candidates and plans to probably interview two more.

Recruiting areas for the coaches- He said the recruiting territories haven't been finalized, but about 80 percent of where the coaches will recruit has been set.

Receiver A.D. Miller said his visit to Arkansas on Wednesday was good, but he didn't receive an offer. He said meeting the coaches was probably the best part of the trip.
