Sunday recruiting tidbits

Tight end Austin Cantrell of Roland, Oklahoma attended Arkansas' first spring practice today and received an offer from the Hogs. He said came close to committing on the spot but will take his time before making a decision.

Cantrell, 6-3 1/2, 249, 4.58 seconds in the 40 yard dash received an offer from Central Oklahoma on Friday. He's drawing interest fro Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and others. He said Coach Bret Bielema is very down-to-earth and is probably his favorite head coach.

Cantrell had 9 receptions for 268 yards, a 29.7 yards per catch. and 2 touchdowns. He rushed 41 times for 334 yards and 9 touchdowns. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Defensive end James Lockhart, 6-4, 253 pounds of Ennis, Texas said he talked to Bielema on Friday. He said Bielema told him he was a very special player and he couldn't wait until he visited.

He said Bielema was a great guy and was impressed with his knowledge of the game.

Lockhart, who recorded 122 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 21 quarterback hurries and 3 forced fumbles this past season, is planning to visit the Hogs in the spring. He’s rated the No. 14 defensive end and the No. 82 overall prospect in the nation by ESPN.

North Little Rock receiver K.J. Hill plans to attend Arkansas' spring game on April 26. He will either attend Alabama or Auburn's spring game. Both are on the same date. He believes Ohio State will offer him this week.

Running back Karan Higdon of Sarasota, (Fla.) Riverview said he plans to take an official visit visit to Arkansas after receiving an offer from the Hogs on Thursday. He knows of running back Alex Collins and his success as a freshman.

He's a 4.0 student who's taking part in the International Baccalaureate program. Higdon said when does enroll in college he'll be a sophomore academically. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Nashville receiver La"Michael Pettway will visit Arkansas March 20, Auburn on March 25 and Ole Miss on the 26th.

10:25 update

Cornerback P.J. Mbanasor, 6-2, 180, 4.46 of Pflugerville, (Texas) Hendrickson said he plans to visit Arkansas this summer. He received an offer from the Hogs on Friday.

He had a previously relationship with defensive backs coach Clay Jennings while he was in Fort Worth. Mbanasor said Jennings wasn't going to recruit him until he decided to decommit fro TCU and explore other options. He said Jennings' record of putting defensive backs into the NFL speaks for itself.
