Killian Named SEC Pitcher of the Week

Arkansas starter Trey Killian delivers a pitch Friday, March 15, 2013, during the first inning of play against Ole Miss at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas sophomore Trey Killian was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week Monday after he tossed a complete-game four-hitter against Alabama Saturday.

The right-hander allowed only one run while walking two Crimson Tide batters and striking out seven. It was his third straight start in which he went at least seven innings and allowed one earned run, but it was his first victory.

A week before his complete game against Alabama, Killian went the distance in a 1-0 road loss to Florida, giving up seven hits and one walk while striking out six batters in eight innings of work.

Including his start against Cal in the Cal Baseball Classic, Killian has allowed three earned runs in his last 24 innings pitched, dropping his season ERA to 2.36.

Arkansas pitchers earned SEC Pitcher of the Week honors twice last season, with Ryne Stanek and Barrett Astin each picking up the award, but Killian is the first to win it this year.

This is Killian's second award from the SEC, as he earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors after allowing no hits, one walk and striking out seven batters in seven innings against San Diego State March 9, 2013.
