Offer has Hogs in the hunt for Texas O-lineman

Arkansas coach Bret Bielema, back, watches on as Jared Cornelius catches a pass during spring football practice Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Arkansas offered a scholarship offensive lineman Connor Williams Thursday morning and the Hogs are now one of his top schools.

Williams, 6-5, 275, 5.2 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Coppell, Texas also has scholarship offers from Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Purdue, TCU, Colorado, Northwestern, Wake Forest and others.

“They had a really great facilities, awesome facilities,” Williams said. “They made me feel very welcomed.”

He said running backs coach Joel Thomas is expected to visit his school on May 6.

Williams, who turns 17 years old on May 12, has a 315 pound bench press, 435 squat, 280 power clean and a 29-inch vertical.

He said talking to Coach Bret Bielema was the best part of the trip.

“He's cool, he's a very genuine guy,” Williams said. “He likes football. Has a good personality.”
