Heymsfield named SEC runner of the week

Arkansas senior Grace Heymsfield (262) leads junior Dominique Scott on her way to winning the women's mile invitational in a school-record 4:34.22 during the Razorback Invitational Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas' Grace Heymsfield was named Southeastern Conference runner of the week Tuesday after a record-breaking performance at the Payton Jordan Invitational in California.

The senior broke her own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Sunday. Her time of 9:53.65 placed her second at the Payton Jordan Invitational and topped her previous record of 9:57.18, which she set at last year's NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Heymsfield's school record helped the Razorbacks jump one spot in this week's USTFCCCA rankings to No. 8. The men's team remained at No. 3 in the poll.
