In about a month, Arkansas defensive line commitment Hjalte Froholdt will return to the United States for his senior year at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.

Before he does, he’ll wrap up his season with the Gold Diggers, a club team in Denmark.

“Everything is going very well,” said Froholdt, who hopes to visit Arkansas in July. “I feel like I stepped my game up since we started the season. The coaching at Gold Diggers is great, but there is still many things that I can improve on. A thing to work hard on is play recognition. Going from playing the run, into a passing situation, and putting pressure on the quarterback.”

He and his older brother, Lars a 6-1, 320 defensive lineman will travel to Austria on May 26 for the 2014 Football European Championships to represent Denmark against five other countries May 30 to June 7.

Froholdt, 6-5, 290 pounds is 17 years old and is the youngest player ever selected to the 19 and over Denmark Senior National Team. He’s rated the No. 10 defensive tackle and the No. 81 overall prospect in the nation by ESPN.

He recorded a 325 pound bench press and 575 squat earlier in the year, but hasn’t seen much of the weight room during the season.

“Weight room is hard to hit as much while we're in season, with all the cardio and running,” said Froholdt, who reports Lars being undecided on which school he’ll attend in the states. “And with a couple of small injuries I haven't had the time to work out properly. So most weight room related is maintaining my strength.”

Froholdt began his journey of becoming a Razorback in 2012 by starting as a sophomore at tight end and defensive end for Warren (Ohio) Harding High School.

He hasn’t forgotten his former school and has been talking to offensive lineman James Daniels, who’s rated the No. 3 center in the nation by ESPN.

“I need to talk to him a little more,” Froholdt said of the Hogs. “He's looking a several SEC schools. He got offered by Auburn not too long ago. James Daniels is a great guy. Would love for him to be on the Arkansas squad.”

Froholdt has seen video of the other Arkansas commitments and likes what he sees.

“I mean Austin (Cantrell) is a huge dude, but is quick as hell,” Froholdt said. “And of course Ty Storey.”

A couple of schools have made contact but Froholdt lets them know he’s a Hog.

“Some ask me how I've been and my current situation, and I answer them,” he said.

Froholdt appreciates the support Razorback fans have shown on Twitter.

“A thank you for the support, and sorry that I haven't been putting up the videos that me and Lars promised,” Froholdt said. “We just never get to it. And whenever we're at practice we forget. So a thanks.”
