FAYETTEVILLE — Ryne Stanek earned his first professional win as the Bowling Green Hot Rods beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 15-0 Monday.
In the right-hander's fourth career start for Tampa Bay's Class A affiliate, he allowed only one hit in six innings. Stanek also struck out four batters and walked none.
Stanek gave up a two-out double to former LSU player Raph Rhymes in the first inning, before he settled in and retired the last 16 batters he faced.
The win improved his record to 1-2 and lowered his ERA to 2.95 on the season.
Former Arkansas player Dominic Ficociello went 0-for-4 for the Whitecaps, Detroit's Class A affiliate. Batting against Stanek, Ficociello flew out to center to end the first inning, stranding Rhymes on second. He grounded out in his second at bat against Stanek.
Ficociello has a .258 batting average, three home runs and 23 RBI this season.
