Stanek earns first professional win, beats Ficociello
Ryne Stanek recorded his first professional win Monday.
FAYETTEVILLE Ryne Stanek earned his first professional win as the Bowling Green Hot Rods beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 15-0 Monday.
In the right-hander's fourth career start for Tampa Bay's Class A affiliate, he allowed only one hit in six innings. Stanek also struck out four batters and walked none.
Stanek gave up a two-out double to former LSU player Raph Rhymes in the first inning, before he settled in and retired the last 16 batters he faced.
The win improved his record to 1-2 and lowered his ERA to 2.95 on the season.
Former Arkansas player Dominic Ficociello went 0-for-4 for the Whitecaps, Detroit's Class A affiliate. Batting against Stanek, Ficociello flew out to center to end the first inning, stranding Rhymes on second. He grounded out in his second at bat against Stanek.
