Hogs beat Gorillas in final exhibition

— Arkansas needed to overcome another slow start to win its final warmup before the regular season starts Sunday.

The Razorbacks actually trailed Pittsburg State by three points four minutes into the game, but eventually pulled away for an 89-66 win.

Bobby Portis led all scorers with 22 points and added five rebounds and one blocked shot. His five rebounds were tied with Michael Qualls and Manuale Watkins for the team lead.

The highlight of night came during a second-half stretch in which Moses Kinglsey blocked a dunk attempt on defense, flew through the lane for a big dunk on offense, then hauled in an offensive rebound and laid it back in.

Kingsley was one of three Razorbacks to finished the game with 13 points, along with Qualls and Jacorey Williams.

A total of 58 personal fouls were called during the game, with each team committing 29. Pittsburg State capitalized on its free throw opportunities, shooting 82.8 percent (24-of-29), while Arkansas made just 61.9 percent (26-of-42).

The Razorbacks open up the regular season Sunday against Alabama State. Tip off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena.
