Hogs have no trouble with ACC foe

Arkansas' Rashad "Ky" Madden celebrates against Wake Forest during the first half Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, in Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

— The Southeastern Conference hasn't fared well against power conference teams early this basketball season.

Apparently, Arkansas missed the memo.

Six players scored in double figures as the Razorbacks dominated rebuilding Wake Forest 83-53 Wednesday at Bud Walton Arena.

Ky Madden scored 11 points to lead the Razorbacks. Five players - Bobby Portis, Alandise Harris, Moses Kingsley, Anton Beard and Jacorey Williams - added 10 points as Arkansas improved to 2-0.

After struggling with Alabama State in the first half of the season opener Sunday, Arkansas had little trouble with the ACC's Demon Deacons. The Razorbacks' defense forced 22 turnovers and held Wake Forest to only one made 3-pointer in 15 attempts. The Demon Deacons (2-1) finished the game shooting 32 percent from the field.

Arkansas took control with a 15-0 run during a 2-minute, 44-second stretch in the first half after the game was tied at 10-apiece. Beard, a freshman point guard, sparked the run with a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight of his 10 points during the spurt.

The Razorbacks led by as many as 20 points in the first half and led 44-30 at halftime.

Arkansas hit 62 percent of its shots in the second half to extend the lead to as many as 35 points. The Razorbacks sat most of their starters the last several minutes of the game and Arkansas' bench scored 45 points.

Devin Thomas led the Demon Deacons with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

The Razorbacks beat Wake Forest for the first time in three tries at Bud Walton Arena. The Demon Deacons had won the two previous games there in 1999 and 2001.

Arkansas will host Delaware State on Friday.
