Hill still solid to Hogs after Florida visit

Canaan Sandy, who was one of three inductees into ESPN's Fan Hall of Fame in 2013, is in disbelief after meeting K.J. Hill following his announcement that he's a Hog in August.

North Little Rock receiver K.J. Hill, an Arkansas commitment, made an official visit to Florida for the LSU game over the weekend.

“It went good, I just went up there just to have fun and enjoy it,” Hill said.

Hill, 6-1, 192, 4.42 seconds in the 40 yard dash, announced his commitment to the Hogs during a news conference at the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame conference room in North Little Rock on Aug. 29. He picked the Razorbacks over offers from Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Ohio State and others.

He spoke about the positives of the trip to Gainesville.

“Just the living environment of Florida,” Hill said. “Just the weather and I liked the atmosphere they had at the game. They were all into it the whole time. It was a great place.”

He met with the Gator coaches and told them of his interest in the program.

“I told them that and then they were asking could you see yourself going here,” Hill said. “I said ‘yeah, but right now you know I’m committed to Arkansas’.”

The trip make him second guess his pledge to the Hogs?

“No, not really,” Hill said.

Some Razorback fans accepted Hill’s desire to visit other schools while others have questioned the need to make visits after making a pledge.

“I would say it’s free and you don’t get to do that every…. a lot of people don’t get to do that.” he said. “So I’m just taking advantage of it.”

Hill said he’s talked to Coach Bret Bielema and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. since his visit.

“They didn’t talk about the Florida visit,” said Hill, who plans to attend the Hogs’ game against Georgia on Saturday. “They were just talking about Saturday and how they could’ve used me against Bama.”

He plans to visit the Hogs Nov. 15 for the LSU game while others are uncertain.

“I haven’t planned that out yet,” Hill said. “I’m going to take an official to Arkansas in season. That’s what I’ve been thinking.

He said he’s solid in his commitment to Arkansas.

“I’m 100 percent,” Hill said.

Hill has recorded 29 receptions for 493 yards, 6 touchdowns along with 25 rushes for 269 yards and 5 touchdowns.

He’s been a marked man after being named the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's All-Arkansas Preps Offensive Player of the Year last season and having 63 receptions for 1,143 yards and 16 touchdowns.

“They put two people on me the whole game that’s why I have to go to the backfield a lot,” Hill said. “They have a corner and a safety up top. It’s frustrating at times, but I just do the best I can and try and get the W.”
