It has been a season to forget for Darren McFadden and the Oakland Raiders, but both showed progress Sunday.

Although the Raiders lost to the San Diego Chargers 31-28 to remain winless, it was their closest loss of the season and McFadden turned in his best game of 2014.

The former Arkansas running back ran for 80 yards on 14 carries, an average of 5.7 yards per carry. He also caught two passes for six yards.

Despite receiving a majority of the carries in the absence of starting running back Maurice Jones-Drew, McFadden had failed to establish himself as a dependable back. Before Sunday, he averaged only 3.4 yards per carry.

Jones-Drew returned in the Chargers game and rushed four times for 30 yards, but if McFadden can stay healthy and perform like he did Sunday, he should continue to get plenty of carries.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a bye week, meaning Knile Davis and Jerry Franklin did not play.

Here is a look at how the other 10 players on NFL 53-man rosters did during Week 6.

Alvin Bailey - Seattle Seahawks

Bailey was active after suffering an oblique injury the week before, but did not play in the Seahawks' 30-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Nate Garner - Miami Dolphins

Garner played, but did not start in the Dolphins' 27-24 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Brett Goode - Green Bay Packers

The Packers made two field goals and three extra points and punted four times in their 27-24 win over the Miami Dolphins. Goode was the long snapper on all nine kicks.

Chris Gragg - Buffalo Bills

A week after catching the game-tying touchdown, Gragg did not have any statistics in the Bills' 37-22 loss to the New England Patriots.

Peyton Hillis - New York Giants

In the Giants' 27-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Hillis rushed for 24 yards on five carries and caught three passes for 28 yards. That's 52 yards on eight touches.

Ryan Mallett - Houston Texans

For the fourth straight game, Mallett sat on the sideline as starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick posted a Total QBR lower than 50 (40.7). Fitzpatrick's season Total QBR is now 48.5, which ranks 30th in the NFL. Mallett has yet to take a snap for the Texans. Houston lost to the Indianapolis Colts 33-28.

Jason Peters - Philadelphia Eagles

Peters played all but three snaps in the Eagles' 27-0 win over the New York Giants. During the game, he was in charge of blocking star defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. Peters did not allow a sack.

Travis Swanson - Detroit Lions

For just the second time this season, Swanson saw some action on offense, playing two snaps in the Lions' 17-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He also played six special teams snaps.

George Wilson - Tennessee Titans

Wilson made two tackles, including one solo tackle, in the Titans' 16-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jarius Wright - Minnesota Vikings

In the Vikings' 17-3 loss to the Detroit Lions, Wright caught four passes for 17 yards and gained 21 yards on one carry.
