TCU commit enjoys visit

NWA Media/ANDY SHUPE - Arkansas tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. directs his players during practice Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

TCU commitment Jeff Gladney was hoping to see a good game between Arkansas and Alabama during his unofficial visit on Saturday and he wasn’t disappointed.

“It just feels like a nice atmosphere,” said Gladney, who's being recruited as a cornerback by the Razorbacks. “Oh man, that’s one of the best games of the year so far. I would love to play in that type of situation.”

Gladney, 6-0, 175, 4.34 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of New Boston, Texas reports having about 10 scholarship offers, including TCU, Tulsa, Arkansas State and New Mexico. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He believes an offer from the Hogs is coming, but that doesn’t guarantee a flip to Arkansas.

“I’m going to have to wait and see,” Gladney said. “I don't know yet. I'm still thinking about everything.”

Gladney, who has a best time of 10.76 seconds in the 100 meters, talks to lead recruiter and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. on a regular basis.

“At least once a once a week, if not more,” said Gladney, who has also talked to Coach Bret Bielema and defensive coordinator Robb Smith. “He’s a cool cat. He seems like he’s a great coach.”

The Arkansas coaching staff was one of the best parts of the visit.

“You want to make sure you have a good coaching staff,” he said. “To me, I felt like I was welcomed. That was the main thing that caught my eye like the coaching staff.”

The staff has made him feel wanted.

“The way they’re showing interest, its kind of hard to say no,” Gladney said.

Gladney talked about his strengths.

“I would just say my straight athleticism and speed,” he said. “I’m not trying to sound cooky, but I have a high IQ for the game.”
