The Recruiting Guy

They said it

Junior defensive lineman Michael Perry III is planning to visit Arkansas soon.

Here's several quotes from recruits that haven't made it to print or on the site before today.

Miami Norland linebacker Rayshad Jackson, 6-1, 205. 4.58 seconds in the 40 yard dash, He plans to officially visit Arkansas in January. He said he has a strong relationship with linebackers coach Randy Shannon, who attended Norland.

“I feel like we have a great relationship because he came from down here,” said Jackson, who recently received an offer from Arkansas. “I can talk to him because has the understanding where I come from and he has a great relationship with my head coach.”

Junior cornerback Jared Mayden, 6-1, 185 pounds of Sachse, Texas has about 30 offers from schools like Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon and Notre Dame. He posted a time of 4.35 seconds in the 40 yard dash at an Oklahoma camp over the summer

He’s hoping to visit the Hogs this season.

Mayden is looking to go into coaching after his playing days are over.

“I would like to give back to some of the kids in the area,” Mayden said. “I really want to be a GA (college graduate assistant) but I feel like if that doesn’t work out I can fall back on high school coaching.”

Mayden, who has a 3.1 grade point average, participates in the Future Teachers Internship in his school district.

“After I finish my four years of college, I’m guaranteed an interview for a teacher position in the district,” Mayden said.

Arkansas defensive line commit Hjalte Froholdt, 6-5, 290 pounds, of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. plans to report to Fayetteville in January and enroll in classes.

IMG defensive coordinator Joseph Sturdivant said Froholdt will make an impact at Arkansas as a freshman because of his physical ability and football smarts

“He's going to be ready to play,” Sturdivant said. “Just his body type, his mentality. If there’s some questions on our defense, I bet he can tell you what our defensive backs are doing. That's the type of the kid he is.”

Junior defensive lineman Michael Perry III, 6-1 1/2, 328, 5.32 of Memphis Whitehaven has offers from Ole Miss, Missouri, Memphis, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Tennessee State. He’s hoping to visit the Hogs for Saturday’s game against Georgia.

Perry has attended the Ole Miss’ home game against Alabama and Memphis’s home game against Middle Tennessee State. He keeps his eye on the defensive line play.

“I pay attention to the whole game, but I'll pay attention to the how the defensive line reacts to game time situations,” Perry said. “Like if the defensive line is to give up, they’re a reflection of their coach. So if they have a great motor and keep on going it shows with their coach is doing his job right but if they’re lacking …..and they're undisciplined it shows the coach really doesn’t have a lot of control over them.”

Perry feels fortunate to have the opportunity to be recruited by major colleges and visit the schools on game days.

“There's a lot of other high school kids in my shoes that don't get to do a lot of the things that I do from a recruiting standpoint,” Perry said.
