Marshall could miss one month with suspension

Arkansas running back Korliss Marshall returns the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown during a game against Northern Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas running back Korliss Marshall will miss multiple games with a suspension, Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema said Saturday.

Marshall, a sophomore, didn't play in Arkansas' 45-32 loss to Georgia. Bielema said Marshall will miss "a period of about three to four weeks" because of off-field decisions and had been removed from team activities in the week leading up to the game.

"There were some choices he made away from the game that are going to keep him out for a while," Bielema said, without elaborating on the reason for Marshall's suspension.

Considered Arkansas' third back, Marshall has rushed for 116 yards and 1 touchdown this season. He has been most effective as a kickoff returner, where he leads the Razorbacks in yards this season and had a 97-yard touchdown return against Northern Illinois.

Marshall was previously suspended from team activities by Bielema for one week during the off-season.

"He's only got one more opportunity to get it right," Bielema said. "And if he doesn't get it right, then it'll probably be one of the saddest stories in my coaching career because he's got a lot of talent and he's got a great heart.

"He just made some poor choices and those things won't be rewarded in our program, I guarantee you that."
