The Recruiting Guy

Saturday recruiting tidbits

Tight end Austin Cantrell during a recent intersquad game.

Power forward Ted Kapita, who's officially visiting Arkansas, was able to watch the Hogs practice this morning.

Kapita, 6-9, 222 of Huntington Prep in West Virginia is being hosted by Arkansas' big men, Bobby Portis, Trey Thompson and Moses Kingsley, who attended Huntington before coming to the UA.

Huntington coach Arkell Bruce also made the trip.

Kapita has officially visited West Virginia and Memphis. He may take other trips to Missouri and Oregon. Nothing certain just yet.

The visit is going very well. The family atmosphere is big with him.

A commitment might happen. Will be interesting to see if he chooses to make the other two visits. He doesn't want to pressure himself into making a decision and doesn't have a set time to pick a school.

Fayetteville's size and community feel is a plus. Not a big city guy.

Arkansas hosted approximately 30 recruits for today's game vs. Alabama-Birmingham. The 11 am kickoff kept the Hogs from hosting eight or so official visitors.

QB Ty Storey, 6-3, 210, 4.84 Charleston and TE Austin Cantrell, 6-3 1/2, 245, 4.58 Roland, Okla. are on official visits.

WR La'Michael Pettway, 6-3, 200, 4.47 of Nashville, soph. QB Taylor Powell, 6-1, 200 of Fayetteville and junior Ath. Manuel Bunch, 6-2, 185, 4.53 of Roland, Okla. are the notable unofficial visitors.

This is the second straight Arkansas game Pettway has attended. He said he was tempted to commit last week while in Little Rock. Common sense would say there's a chance he could this weekend.
