All eyes will be on Hogs, Bulldogs

Arkansas safety Rohan Gaines brings down Mississippi State receiver Malcolm Johnson during a game Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

— Arkansas will have a footnote in the history books after its game Saturday at Mississippi State.

The Razorbacks will be on the opposing sideline in the first game featuring a top-ranked team in the College Football Playoff standings. The game will also be the first ever at home for the Bulldogs while ranked No. 1 in any poll.

Mississippi State is one of three SEC West teams ranked in the top four of the inaugural playoff rankings, which were announced Tuesday night. No. 3 Auburn and No. 4 Ole Miss will also play Saturday.

Not only will the Razorbacks be the first team with a chance to upset No. 1 in the playoff rankings, but Arkansas is also looking to end a 16-game conference losing streak. That streak is the longest active of its kind in college football and is tied for the eighth-longest in SEC history.
