Monday recruiting tidbits

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/STATON BREIDENTHAL --8/19/14-- Arkansas football coach Bret Bielema answers questions for the media Tuesday before speaking at the opening week of the little Rock Touchdown Club.

College football coaches could start calling senior prospects at 12:01 a.m this morning. Schools can also make one call a week per prospect.

Sept. 1 also marks the day schools can start mailing material to juniors along with making contact by email and direct messages on Twitter and Facebook.

It's a good bet Arkansas coaches, including Bret Bielema called some recruits at 12:01. Also expect some juniors to receive a packet in the mail on Tuesday.

Arkansas will not host any official visitors for the Nicholls State game this weekend. It appears the Hogs will host a prospect or prospects on official visits for the other home games.

Hog tight end commitment Austin Cantrell of Roland, Okla.said tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. will attend his season opening game against Muldrow on Thursday.

Arkansas coaches will also be in attendance for the Highland vs. Midland Christian game at Razorback Stadium Monday night. Highland features Razorback receiver commitment Deon Stewart.

Defensive end Quincy Vasser, 6-4, 260 of Navarro College in Texas plans to officially visit Arkansas in November. He's a Georgia commitment. He's also looking to visit Arizona State.

Vasser officially visited the Bulldogs during the summer.

Cornerback Sheldrick Redwine, 6-2,190, 4.5 of Miami Killian had 4 tackles, an interception for a touchdown, 2 blocked punts and 5 pass deflections in Friday's game against Carol City. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He's considering an official visit to Fayetteville.

Safety Kahlil Haughton of Waco Midway had 10 tackles and 2 pass breakups in his game on Friday. He plans to officially visit the Hogs.

Running back Kris Barnes of North Crowley High school in Fort Worth rushed 16 times for 185 yards and 4 touchdowns. He attended the Hogs' Elite camp in July.

Hope junior defensive end McTelvin Agim said the following on Twitter:

Coach Bret Bielema was first to contact Agim by DM on Twitter. Then tights coach Barry Lunney Jr. and defensive line coach Rory Segrest were right behind Bielema in a span of one minute. They let him know they were happy about recruiting him and how he could help Arkansas keep progressing in the future.

Junior linebacker Jordan Carmouche of Manvel, Texas reports Arkansas contacting him on Twitter. He has an offer from the Hogs.

Junior receiver Isaiah Graham of Bastrop, La. reports being contacted by Arkansas.

Junior linebacker Dontavious Jackson of Houston, (Texas) Alief Elsik also reports the Hogs making contact on Twitter.

Junior quarterback Keon Howard of Laurel, Miss. reports he was contacted by the Hogs on Twitter.

Junior cornerback Andraez Williams of Shreveport Calvary Baptist Academy reports he received a DM from Arkansas.

Hog commit Jordan Jones of Smackover recieved a DM from Bielema and Lunney.

Junior quarterback Breylin Smith of Conway recieved a DM from offensive cooridnator Jim Chaney.

Junior quarterback Skylar Thompson of Independence, Mo. received a DM from Chaney.

Junior offensive lineman Jay Jay McCargo of Arlington, (Va.) Bishop O'Connell said offensive line graduate assistant Eric Mateos contacted him on Twitter.

Arkansas has offered safety Brandon Jones of Nacogdoches, Texas. He's considered on of the top prospects in the 2016 class. Defensive backs coach Clay Jennings has been recruiting him.
