Two more Hogs given scholarship

Arkansas receiver Scotty Thurman Jr. warms up prior to the Razorbacks' Red-White Game on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas has awarded scholarships to fullback Patrick Arinze and receiver Scotty Thurman Jr., who were previously walk-ons.

Arinze is a senior from La Mesa, Calif. Thurman, the son of the former Arkansas basketball star by the same name, is a redshirt sophomore from Fayetteville. Both played during last Saturday's win over Nicholls State.

The Razorbacks have given scholarships to five walk-ons since last month. In addition to the two announced Monday, Arkansas has also granted scholarships to kicker John Henson, offensive lineman Adam Deacon and tight end AJ Derby.

Ten current players have been awarded scholarships since Bret Bielema took over as the Razorbacks' head coach. As a player, Bielema was a walk-on who earned a scholarship at Iowa and has expressed the desire to have a strong walk-on program at Arkansas.
