Thursday coordinator notes

Arkansas offensive coordinator Jim Chaney watches during a practice on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

-Defensive coordinator Robb Smith said Tevin Mitchel will "have a role" at Texas Tech. Smith said Mitchel will help the Razorbacks in particular when the Red Raiders have four receivers on the field.

-Smith said defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. will "have an expanded role" Saturday after sitting out last week's game against Nicholls State.

-Smith said Texas Tech has four "excellent" receivers who are quick and fit the no-huddle, spread offense.

-Smith attributed Texas Tech not allowing a sack so far this season to the quick passes and an offensive line that is good picking up blitzes.

-Smith said he believes this is "the week we get it all together" and added the defense is "in a good place right now."

-Offensive coordinator Jim Chaney said he doesn't anticipate crowd noise to be a factor Saturday. Chaney said the team simulated noise this week and handled it well at Auburn in the season opener.

-Chaney said the offense bounced back from a "sluggish" practice Tuesday. He said he felt good about Thursday's practice.

-Chaney said the offense is healthy and indicated he expects Korliss Marshall to play Saturday.

-Chaney said he expects Texas Tech to crowd the line of scrimmage in an attempt to take away the Razorbacks' run game, similar to the way the Red Raiders attempted to do at UTEP last week. He said he expects the same from every opposing defense.

-Chaney said he is familiar with west Texas, noting his mother grew up 11 miles from Lubbock.
