Redshirt more likely for Robinson

Arkansas receiver JoJo Robinson runs with the football during a practice Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas receiver JoJo Robinson might redshirt this season, Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema said Wednesday.

Robinson was expected to help the team this season, but a pair of injuries suffered in practice have set him back. He missed Arkansas' opener at Auburn with an injury to his ribs and has missed the last two games after being stepped on in practice

"It's probably in his best interest to have a redshirt year," Bielema said during the SEC Coaches' Teleconference.

Robinson was one of Arkansas' top recruits after signing out of Miami Northwestern High School in Florida. As a senior he caught 70 passes for 760 yards and 4 touchdowns.

During the Razorbacks' last open scrimmage of the preseason, Robinson caught 3 passes for 54 yards and scored an acrobatic touchdown.

"I don't want to screw the kid's freshman year over by playing him two or three snaps," receivers coach Michael Smith said Tuesday. "He wants to play and we want him to play, but I want him to go out there and be healthy. If he's healthy and he can help us we're going to try to get him out there. If it gets too late then I'll redshirt him."
