Coordinator resigns after Arkansas loss

Arkansas running back Jonathan Williams runs for a 7-yard touchdown during the fourth quarter Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, Texas.

— Texas Tech defensive coordinator Matt Wallerstedt has resigned.

In a release, Wallerstedt cited personal reasons for his resignation. An ESPN.com report earlier Thursday stated Wallerstedt was fired after arriving for work Monday under the influence of an unknown substance.

Wallerstedt's unit was manhandled by Arkansas last Saturday in the Razorbacks' 49-28 road win. Arkansas rushed for 438 yards and 7 touchdowns on 68 carries, and held the ball for more than two-thirds of the game.

The Red Raiders have allowed 110 points through their first three games against Arkansas, Central Arkansas and UTEP.

Wallerstedt's resignation comes less than a week after Nicholls head coach Charlie Stubbs resigned citing health concerns. The Razorbacks beat Nicholls 73-7 eight days prior to his resignation.
