Flowers named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

Arkansas defensive end Trey Flowers tackles Northern Illinois University tailback Joel Bouagnon in the first quarter Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

Trey Flowers was named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week Monday.

The senior defensive end had nine tackles, four of which were solo tackles, including two tackles for loss and one sack. He also forced the fumble that defensive tackle Darius Philon recovered and returned for a touchdown.

He now has 36 career tackles for loss, making him the SEC's active leader and tied for fifth in UA history.

The sack moved him into a tie for 13th in UA history with 13 career sacks.

Flowers is the second Arkansas player to earn a weekly SEC honor this season, after running back Alex Collins was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week following the Texas Tech game.
