Kelley excited about Arkansas trip

Quarterback Cole Kelley.

Arkansas quarterback target quarterback Cole Kelley will check out the Razorbacks this Saturday after visiting Oklahoma State the week before.

“I’m excited to go down there and visit,” Kelley said on April 6. “Them and Oklahoma State are really my top two right now.”

Kelley, 6-7, 240 pounds, of Lafayette, (La.) Teurlings Catholic added an offer from Kentucky on Tuesday and now has seven offers along with schools like Oklahoma State, Colorado State, Tulane and Southern Miss. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He’ll operate out of a pro-style offense should he choose Arkansas and will play in the spread if he picks Oklahoma State.

“Since the eighth grade I haven’t gone under center much,” Kelley said. “It really doesn’t bother me much. People criticize my footwork, but I feel like when I go under center it keeps my feet ready to go because I’m moving more. If I’m in he shotgun, I get a little lazy in my feet.”

Kelley completed 198 of 368 passes for 3,001 yards and 31 touchdowns with 9 interceptions this past season. Leadership and football IQ are two of his biggest assists.

“I think that’s probably my best quality,” he said. “I don’t want to come off cocky, but I think leadership and intelligence is probably my best things. People look how big my arm is but that’s naturally given. Leadership really is too, but the intelligence and stuff that’s from work.”

He’s very family oriented.

“That’s just how I grew up,” Kelley said. “That’s how I was raised to be a family (guy) God first, then family and then football. The three F’s, faith, family and football. My parents are my role models, my brothers are my role models.”

Kelley has a 3.1 grade point average and is considering engineering as a major, but appears to be leaning towards business.

“My mom owns a pharmacy and I maybe take over the pharmacy one day,” Kelley said. “I’ve thought about sports training too. I have a couple of more options so I’m going to look more into it.”
