Arkansas women’s basketball Coach Jimmy Dykes led the Razorbacks to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2012 in his first year.

Dykes’ latest signee Devin Cosper was impressed with Arkansas’ return to the tournament.

“They hadn’t been there in a while and in his first year to go that means something,” Cosper said. “He obviously knows what he’s talking about. He was an analyst for many, many years so I felt like he knew what he was talking about.”

Cosper, 5-10 of Coffeyville Community College in Kansas picked the Hogs over Oklahoma State and Wichita State. She averaged 20.0 points, 4.8 rebounds while shooting 52.4 precent from the field this past season and was the only freshman named first team junior college All-America.

One of the reasons she became a Razorback was because of Dykes’ relationship with the players.

“I like the way he approaches girls and I like the way they responded to him,” Cosper said. “I like the way they treated him as a coach and I like the way he treated them as players.”

Arkansas fans will see player that gives it all for her team.

“Just a really dedicated one, who wants to do anything for their school,” Copser said. “To help them win, which is anything to help Arkansas win.”

Dykes has told Cosper about his plans for her.

“He just said I was going to be a scoring guard for him,” she said.

Cosper eventually wishes to go into a profession that Dykes is familiar with.

“I think I want to be a communication major and go into broadcasting or something,” Cosper said.
