D.J. Williams signed with the Washington Redskins after a workout with the team Sunday.

The former Arkansas tight end was a fifth-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in the 2011 NFL Draft and he most recently played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2014.

Since being cut by the Bucs, Williams has worked with KARK 4 News, a television news station in Little Rock, his hometown.

During his NFL career, Williams caught nine passes for 70 yards while serving primarily as a blocking tight end. He has spent time with the Packers, Buccaneers, Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots.

The Redskins' signing comes after they lost two tight ends - Niles Paul and Logan Paulsen - to season-ending injuries.

Williams will be the fourth former Arkansas player on Washington's roster, joining linebackers Alonzo Highsmith and Martrell Spright, as well as defensive tackle Robert Thomas.

Two other former Razorbacks have spent time on the Redskins' roster this offseason.

Offensive lineman Brey Cook signed with the team as an undrafted free agent, but was cut in May, while defensive back Tevin Mitchel was drafted by Washington in the sixth round of this year's draft, but was waived after suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. The Indianapolis Colts claimed him off waivers.
