Texas receiver commits to Arkansas

Arkansas received an oral commitment from highly recruited receiver Kofi Boateng of Arlington (Texas) Lamar on Saturday evening.

Boateng, 6-1, 180 pounds, 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash, has 30 scholarship offers from schools that include Ole Miss, Nebraska, California, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Texas Tech and Arizona State.

He said the Hogs' relentless pursuit helped seal the deal.

"I knew I truly wanted to be there and they truly wanted me to be there too," Boateng said.

Boateng had 66 receptions for 1,023 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior. Coach Bret Bielema and his staff's focus on life beyond football also helped Boateng decide on the Razorbacks.

"They're just not about football," Boateng said. "They're also about growing young men into being adults and just helping them through daily life while also trying to win game."

Boateng and his family visited Fayetteville and Ole Miss in June.

National recruiting analyst Tom lemming of CBS Sports Network rates Boateng a four-star prospect.

Boateng's lead recruiter is running backs coach Jemal Singleton, but he also talked with Bielema and receivers coach Michael Smith.

"Just talking to those three kind of told me I needed to go and visit this place," Boateng said.

Boateng is the 13th commitment for the 2016 class. Oral commitments are nonbinding.
