Former Arkansas pole vaulter Sandi Morris will compete in the finals at the World Championships in Beijing.
Morris was one of 14 pole vaulters to clear 14 feet, 11 inches during the qualifying round. The final round will take place Wednesday.
Morris has finished second to 2012 Olympic gold medalist Jenn Suhr the last two years at the U.S. national meet. Morris won the NCAA championship indoors and finished second outdoors earlier this year.
Gay finishes sixth
Tyson Gay finished sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.0 seconds.
Jamaica's Usain Bolt upset favorite Justin Gatlin in the race in 9.79 seconds. American Travoyn Bromell finished third in 9.92 seconds.
The sixth-place finish was the best for Gay at the World Championships since his second-place finish in 2009.
Still up
Omar McLeod will compete in the 110 hurdles beginning late Tuesday.
McLeod left the Razorbacks following his sophomore season earlier this year to pursue a professional career. He won the 110 hurdles at the Jamaican national meet earlier this year after winning individual championships at the NCAA indoor and outdoor meets.
Wallace Spearmon Jr. will compete in the 200 meters beginning Tuesday.
Spearmon is racing in Beijing for the first time since the 2008 Olympics when he was stripped of a bronze medal for stepping out of his lane.
Veronica Campbell-Brown will race in the semifinals of the women's 100 meters tonight. Campbell-Brown won the bronze medal in the event at the 2012 Olympics in London.
