Patrick Beverley has been selected by the NBA to participate in the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, which is part of the NBA's All-Star festivities.

The former Arkansas guard replaces Washington Wizards point guard John Wall, who is battling a sprained ankle, migraine headaches and a cold.

Playing with the Houston Rockets, Beverley is averaging 10.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.2 steals in 39 games.

The skills challenge is a bracket-style competition in which two players simultaneously go through identical obstacle courses that test passing, dribbling, agility and shooting skills. The fastest player advances to the next round and there are eight players in the competition.

The event will take place Saturday on the same night as the three-point shooting contest and dunk contest and will be aired nationally on TNT at 6:30 p.m.
