LSU interested in Arkansas' Smith

Arkansas assistant coach Michael Smith argues with a game official against LSU during the third quarter Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

Multiple sources said Tuesday that LSU added Arkansas' Michael Smith, a New Orleans native and longtime collegiate wide receivers coach, to the list of candidates hoping to replace Adam Henry, who left for the San Francisco 49ers over the weekend.

Smith has been the Razorbacks' receivers coach since 2013 after stints in Arizona and Kansas State coaching the same position group. He also served as a running backs coach at Kansas State for a nine-year stretch.

Smith has a lot of relationships with LSU staff members and some have even reached out to gauge his interest. He recently signed a one-year extension for $275,000 at Arkansas for the 2015 season with a buyout of $40,000.
