Portis named to Wooden Award top 20

Arkansas sophomore Bobby Portis reacts to a call against Tennessee in the second half Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks won 69-64.

Bobby Portis has been named to the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 list.

The honor comes just one day after the Arkansas forward had 22 points and 8 rebounds in the Razorbacks' 101-87 win over Auburn on his 20th birthday.

He leads the SEC with 17.9 points per game and ranks fourth with 8.8 rebounds per game. His 56.4 field goal percentage ranks fourth in the conference, as well. He also leads the Razorbacks with 31 blocks and is second on the team with 24 steals.

If the current scoring ranking holds, he would become the first Arkansas player to lead the SEC in that statistic.

Portis has recorded 10 double-doubles in his last 14 games, including eight against conference opponents.

In 11 conference games, he is averaging 19.3 points and 10 rebounds.

He is one of only two SEC players on the list, joining Kentucky's Willie Cauley-Stein.
