UA women ranked No. 1

Sandi Morris of Arkansas clears the ball while competing in the pole vault during the Tyson Invitational Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville.

— Arkansas is ranked No. 1 in the latest USTFCCCA national indoor track & field rankings.

The Razorbacks jumped two spots in the latest rankings after a strong showing over the weekend at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville and Husky Classic in Seattle. Based on results, the USTFCCCA ranking projects team standings at the national meet in March.

With several upperclassmen, Arkansas has established itself as one of the nation's best teams during the indoor season. The Razorbacks have been especially strong in the pole vault, where two athletes rank among the nation's six best this year.

Arkansas senior Sandi Morris and Stephen F. Austin's Demi Payne have each broken the NCAA record in the pole vault this season. Morris, currently second in the national qualifying standings, missed on three attempts to regain the record Saturday at the Tyson Invitational.

In Seattle, distance runner Dominique Scott ran the 3,000 meters in 8:52.57 Saturday. It is the best time in the nation this season and fifth best in NCAA history. Scott also ranks fifth nationally in the mile.

Junior Taylor Ellis-Watson has the second-best time in the 200 meters and senior Tamara Myers is third in the triple jump. Arkansas teams rank second nationally in the distance medley relay and third in the 4x400 meter relay.

Arkansas will host the NCAA championships next month at the Randal Tyson Track Center. The Razorbacks' men are ranked third in this week's standings.
