Texas Bowl drew large TV audience

— The matchup between Arkansas and Texas was the most-watched in the nine-year history of the Texas Bowl.

More than 5.8 million viewers watched the Razorbacks' 31-7 win over the Longhorns. That was a 44 percent increase over the bowl matchup the year before between Syracuse and Minnesota.

The Texas Bowl was the third-most watched bowl game outside the College Football Playoff. The Holiday Bowl matchup between Nebraska and Southern Cal, and the Belk Bowl between Georgia and Louisville drew larger audiences.

The game drew a 3.3 rating nationally. Among metered Texas markets, the game had ratings of 16.9 in Austin, 7.7 in San Antonio, 6.8 in Dallas-Fort Worth and 6.1 in Houston.

In addition to most watched, the Arkansas-Texas matchup was also the most attended Texas Bowl ever. Attendance for the game was announced as 71,115.
