Wednesday recruiting tidbits

Safety Reid Miller.

Safety Reid Miller of Bradenton, (Fla.) IMG Academy announced Tuesday evening his intentions to walkon at Arkansas and enroll n January.

Miller, 5-11, 196, 4.47 seconds in the 40 yard dash, had several scholarship offers from small schools and interest from Penn State, Pitt, Florida, Temple and Jacksonville State. He was named the team MVP. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He decided to be a Razorback after talking to Coach Bret Bielema and being blown away. His teammate and Razorback defensive line signee Hjalte Froholdt planted the seed for him wanting to learn more about Arkansas. He bench presses 360, squats 425 and has a 36 inch vertical.

Miller plans to report to Fayetteville Jan. 16.

Pine Bluff sophomore linebacker Kyron Whaley, 6-2, 215, 4.5 had 127 tackles this past season. Coach Bobby Bolding said Whaley is very raw, but believes he has a chance to be a highly recruited prospect.

Arkansas tight end signee Will Gragg of Dumas was cleared by the NCAA on Tuesday and is now on campus.

Offensive line target Jalen Merrick, 6-5, 310 pounds, 5.21 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. did not hear from the NCAA on Tuesday whether or not he's cleared to enroll early at his school of choice.

Sophomore forward S.K. Shittu, 6-9, 190 of Rogers Providence Christian Academy recently received an offer from Tulsa. He was the best prospect at Arkansas' basketball camp in August. He also has an offer from UCA.

10:34 update

Defensive back Ryan Pulley, 6-1, 195 pounds, 4.39 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Cape Coral (Fla.) Island Coast plans to officially visit Arkansas Jan. 23. He received a scholarship offer from the Hogs Aug. 11 to go along with about 14 others, including ones from Michigan State, Indiana, Arizona and Tennessee.

Defensive coordinator Robb Smith has been recruiting him.

2:10 update

Former Pine Bluff kicker Austin McGehee plans to walkon at Arkansas and enroll this semester. He signed with Purdue out of high school in February of 2014 and left the program last summer and transferred to Arkansas State. He recently received his release from the Red Wolves.
