FAYETTEVILLE — Jim Chaney’s departure as Arkansas’ offensive coordinator after two seasons became official Tuesday when Razorbacks Coach Bret Bielema announced Chaney’s resignation in a statement posted on his Twitter account.

Chaney has accepted the offensive coordinator’s job at the University of Pittsburgh, multiple media outlets reported Sunday, although Panthers Coach Pat Narduzzi has yet to announce the hiring.

“I want to thank Jim for his two seasons at the University of Arkansas,” Bielema said. “We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”

Bielema has two positions open on his coaching staff with the losses of Chaney and Randy Shannon, who resigned as Arkansas’ linebackers coach to take a job at Florida.

“We have started the process to take a bigger and brighter step forward in our program,” Bielema said. “As a head coach, I have witnessed many positive events that happen with modified transition.

“We will find the correct fit for our returning players and coaches eager for the 2015 campaign.”
