Thursday recruiting tidbits

James King

Linebacker James King said he believes defensive coordinator Robb Smith and linebackers coach Vernon Hargreaves will visit his school this morning.

King, 6-2, 200 pounds, 4.45 of Miami Washington expects to arrive Friday morning for the start of his official visit to Fayetteville.

He's committed to Florida Atlantic. He plans to visit the Owls the following weekend and possibly South Florida for a midweek trip.

I spoke to someone with knowledge of the new Arkansas offensive coordinator. The person calls the hiring excellent and is very optimistic the offense will be improved.

As reported in Sunday's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Arkansas offensive line coach Sam Pittman will be recognized as one of the top six recruiting assistant coaches in the nation by national recruiting analyst Tom Lemming.

Lemming will give out the Lemmy Awards during The Lemming Report at 5:30 Friday evening on CBS Sports Network. Pittman will be the lone SEC coach to receive a Lemmyy.

Arkansas running backs coach Joel Thomas made an in-home visit with punter commitment Blake Johnson Wednesday night.

Coffeyville Community College receiver Dominique Reed is expected to officially visit Texas this weekend.

I'm told Arkansas' visit on Wednesday with linebacker commitment Derrick Graham went well. Coach Bret Bielema, defensive coordinator Robb Smith, linebackers coach Vernon Hargreaves and graduate assistant Aaron Henry visited his school and home.

Brad Winton of Juco Recruiting reports Arkansas showing interest in forward Humday Mohammed, 6-9 of Lee College.

Jimmy Smith of The Times-Picayune in New Orleans reports receiver Brandon Singleton reopening his recruiting and no longer being committed to Georgia Tech. He received an offer from Arkansas on Monday.

Singleton, 6-0, 170, 4.46 seconds in the 40 yard, of Boutte, (La.) Hahnville is expected to take an official visit California this weekend.
