FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas says more than 1 million paying fans passed the turnstiles to attend Razorback sporting events in the 2014-15 school year.
The number is 10 percent higher than for last year's teams. Football attendance was up nearly 18 percent, soccer was up 13 percent and volleyball was up 11 percent. Attendance was also higher for baseball, men's and women's basketball, track and field and gymnastics. Softball was down.
Arkansas was the only school in the 2014-15 season to win a football bowl game, win games in both the NCAA men's and women's basketball tournaments and the baseball regionals. The school also had 60 percent of its athletes finish the year with a grade-point-average of 3.0 or better.
